Globo Tetris Shared Balloon Flight

About this experience

Three options: Basic Shared Flight (the $146 from-price), Flight + Round Transportation, and All inclusive flight. Every option includes coffee or tea, a welcome bonfire, a toast with alcoholic drinks, travel insurance and a personalised certificate. Breakfast comes with the larger options, and the archaeological zone ticket only with the all-inclusive. You find the port by a large mural with the company name on the Mexico-Tulancingo road.

The flight gets glowing reviews. Guests name pilots Ivan and Mau, describe landings straight onto a trailer, and the photo-and-drone package sold on site got praise (one guest paid $40, another got the RAW files). A guest who took flight plus transport was collected at 5:15 a.m. on Reforma and dropped back at 10:00, about 5 hours in total.

The transport is the weak spot. Globo Tetris uses contracted drivers, and the 1-star reviews are about pickups: in March 2026 a couple waited from 4:40 to past 5:15 because the time had moved to 5:40 without notice, and in September 2026 a guest missed the flight after a late driver. Both say no refund followed. Other guests mention old, cramped cars, and one in May 2026 never got the breakfast she paid for. Confirmation comes within 48 hours, not instantly. Above 100 kg you pay 500 MXN (101 to 120 kg) or 1,000 MXN (121 to 140 kg); above 140 kg you can't fly.

  • Welcome bonfire, toast and certificate on every option
  • Travel insurance included
  • Pilots and landings praised in reviews
  • Flight plus transport back in Mexico City by about 10 a.m., guests report
  • Group capped at 24 travellers on the listing

What guests say

★★★★★

Perfect take-off time, 5-10 minutes into the air the sun came up behind the mountains. The pilot Mau did an amazing job, landed the balloon directly on a trailer, we were all impressed.

Javier our driver was timely and communicated efficiently. He drove safe and it was nice to just have a personal driver for the morning. Ivan our pilot was lively and reassuring!

They accommodated us from one day to the next. Had someone punctual pick us up. [...] Loved the views, was not scary take off and landing were both very subtle.

Tips before you book

  • With transport, ask for the driver's name, plate and phone number the day before, and confirm the pickup time again that evening. Missed pickups are the main complaint.
  • Driving yourself removes that risk: the port is on the Mexico-Tulancingo road, about an hour from the city before dawn.
  • Several guests skipped breakfast and called the basic flight the best value. A May 2026 guest found the buffet cold.
  • Wait for the confirmation email (up to 48 hours) before you plan the rest of your week around the flight.
