Booking choice: The dawn flight from $127, from $127 per person. Check dates Tour details
A shared hot air balloon flight over Teotihuacan costs from $127 to $204 per person online in 2026. Those are from-prices, and on almost every listing the from-price is the cheapest option: the flight alone, with you making your own way to the balloon port in San Martin de las Piramides by about 6 a.m.
Pickup from Mexico City, breakfast in a cave and the pyramid ticket change the total. Below is what each listing on this site charges, what its headline price includes, and which extras you pay in pesos at the port.
The quick answer
Expect $127 to $204 per person for a shared flight booked online, usually for the flight-only option. Pickup and breakfast cost more on every listing that offers them, and the zone ticket (210 MXN for foreign visitors in 2026) is extra on half of them. Add a weight surcharge if you are over 100 kg. Booking direct in pesos costs about the same.

How much is a hot air balloon ride in Teotihuacan in 2026?

Check dates for the dawn flight from $127What does the from-price actually cover?
On most listings, the flight and little else: 30 to 60 minutes in a shared basket, a coffee before take-off, insurance and often a toast and a certificate on landing.
- Always: a place in a shared basket, the pilot, passenger insurance. Operators must hold an AFAC permit and carry passenger and third-party cover.
- Usually: coffee or tea at the port, a toast with sparkling wine after landing, a printed flight certificate. Al Sol, Globo Tetris, Volar en Globo and the $127 listing all name the certificate.
- Not in the flight-only price: the van from Mexico City, breakfast, the zone ticket, a guide inside the ruins.
- Never: the photos and drone video the crew shoots, which are sold separately at the port.
Read the option name before you pay. A listing titled "pickup and breakfast in a cave" can still show a from-price that buys neither.

How much more do pickup and breakfast cost?
It depends on the listing, and Viator shows the option prices only at checkout. One operator's own price list puts the van from Mexico City at about 1,110 MXN (around $60) on top of the flight.
We don't quote the higher options per listing because they change by date and group size. Pick your date, then switch between options on the booking page and watch the total move. As a yardstick, Globos Aerostaticos Teotihuacan sells a shared flight from 1,990 MXN and the same flight with round-trip transport from Mexico City at 3,100 MXN.
What the full options add: a van from the Angel of Independence around 4:30 a.m., breakfast in a cave restaurant, a stop at an agave and obsidian shop, an hour or so in the archaeological zone, and the ride back to town. Whether that is worth it is the subject of the cave breakfast guide and the day from Mexico City.

The most reviewed flight here: the all-inclusive option adds the van from the Angel, a cave breakfast and free time in the ruins.

Only on some listings. The zone ticket costs 210 MXN for foreign visitors in 2026, 105 MXN for Mexican nationals and residents, and nothing for children under 13 or adults over 60.
The fee doubled for foreigners on 1 January 2026; it was 100 MXN for everyone in 2025. INAH confirmed the new figures in Boletin 106. Some listings still quote it as "7 USD" or "14 USD". Ignore those and carry 210 pesos in cash.
| Ticket included | Ticket not included |
|---|---|
| We Fly (options with transport) | Flight with cave breakfast |
| Globo Tetris (all-inclusive option) | Gran Vuelo with pickup |
| Express transport | Cielo Azteca |
| Dawn flight from $127 (itinerary) | Balloon's Paradise |
| The ground day tour (no balloon) | Volar en Globo |
The Al Sol flight has no zone visit at all. The zone opens at 8:00, after most balloons have landed. Rules, hours and the closed pyramids are in the entry fee post.
What extra charges should you expect on the day?
A weight surcharge if you are over about 100 kg, the photos if you want them, and tips. Bring pesos in cash.
- Weight: 35 MXN per kg over 100 kg on the Gran Vuelo and Cielo Azteca flights, over 99 kg at We Fly; 40 MXN per kg at Volar en Globo. At 110 kg that is 350 to 400 MXN. The flagship and Globo Tetris charge in steps: 500 MXN from 100 to 120 kg, 1,000 MXN from 120 to 140 kg. Globo Tetris turns away anyone over 140 kg.
- Photos: the crew photographs you at inflation and on landing. One guest wrote about "being asked to take staged photos and then being encouraged to purchase them afterwards". Say no if you don't want them.
- Tips: excluded on most listings and optional.
- Drinks: Balloon's Paradise lists alcohol as extra.
Most ports weigh you at check-in. If you are near a limit, weigh yourself in the clothes you will wear before you book.

Is it cheaper to book a Teotihuacan balloon directly in pesos?
Not by much. Shared flights cost 2,300 to 2,600 MXN direct according to adn40, about $125 to $141 at October 2026 rates, against $127 to $204 online.
The dollar traded around 18.4 pesos in mid-October 2026 (eldolar.info). At that rate, the adn40 survey of operator prices lands in the same band as the Viator flight-only options, and the cheapest direct shared flight we found, 1,990 MXN, is about $108.
Booking direct can save $20 or so. Booking online buys free cancellation up to 24 hours before on every listing here, reviews in one place, and somebody to complain to when a pickup goes wrong. If you book direct, ask for the company's AFAC permit first: news reports since 2023 name several operators suspended for paperwork, as the safety post sets out.
Flight only, 30 to 50 minutes in the air, with insurance and coffee: book it and drive yourself.
Check dates for the Al Sol Globos flightHow much is a private balloon flight at Teotihuacan?
About 3,400 to 3,500 MXN per person for two, roughly $185 to $190 each. VIP packages with private transport start near 15,000 MXN.
Globos Aerostaticos Teotihuacan lists a private flight for couples from 3,400 MXN per person, and adn40 gives about 3,500 MXN per person for a private basket. None of the listings on this site is private: every one is a shared basket with compartments, and operators fly up to 14 to 16 passengers plus the pilot.
A private basket is worth it for a proposal. For everyone else, the money goes further on a shared flight with the full-day option.

Which Teotihuacan balloon option is the best value?
Staying near the pyramids: the flight-only option and a taxi. Coming from Mexico City: an all-inclusive option with the zone ticket built in.
If you sleep in San Martin de las Piramides or San Juan Teotihuacan, pay for the flight and nothing else. Al Sol Globos and the basic option of Globo Tetris are built for that.
From Mexico City, the van at 4:30 a.m. is the hard part to organise yourself, so pay for it. The express transport flight and the transport options at We Fly include the zone ticket; the $127 listing has the lowest starting point. Skip a package only to save the breakfast: guests are split on it.

Van, sunrise flight, breakfast and the zone entrance all listed as included, from the We Fly port.

Is a Teotihuacan balloon ride worth the money?
For most people, yes: every listing here rates 4.5 to 5.0. The value is the sunrise and the view of the valley, not the extras. Pay for the flight and the transport you need, and skip what you don't.
Do children pay less?
Child prices vary by listing and show at checkout once you add a child. Minimum ages run from 3 (the flagship, Cielo Azteca, Al Sol) to 5 (We Fly, Globo Tetris, the express flight).
Can I pay the extras by card?
Plan on cash. Weight surcharges are collected at the port, and the 210 MXN zone ticket is best paid in pesos at the entrance.
Is the price per person or per basket?
Per person. Every listing on this site is a shared flight in a basket with compartments for several groups.
